The synthpop band Turboweekend was one of the flagships of the Danish music scene from 2008 to 2016. Then, they suddenly vanished from the face of the Earth. But now, they’re back—celebrating their reunion with a brand new album and four sold-out shows at Vega in Copenhagen.

Get Started NowThursday night at Vega was historic and electrifying. Turboweekend is back, and from the very first chord, they owned the stage—and their loyal following. Or rather: from the first magnetic, powerful bassline and earth-shaking kick drum. This band has always had a formidable rhythm section that drives most of their tracks with authority and raw energy.

Turboweekend has a unique talent for creating an intense atmosphere in their music—at once nostalgic and timeless. It’s impressive how they still manage to stir such strong emotions in the audience, especially when performing iconic tracks from their back catalogue.

They opened with their majestic hit “After Hours.” Later, frontman Silas Bjerregaard crowd-surfed, and at the peak of the second chorus, he rose to a standing position on the shoulders of his congregation and whispered—then screamed—the hook of “Trouble Is.” Like a god.
